Airport Arrival → Habarana (Minneriya Wildlife Safari)
Ayubowan! Meet and assist at the airport by your private tour guide and transfer from airport to Habarana. Habarana is the central hub for the ancient cultural triangle and national parks. Afternoon at leisure or take an elephant back safari through the jungle of Habarana, or an exciting Jeep safari in Minneriya National Park to see large herds of wild elephants gathered around the ancient tank.
Polonnaruwa Medieval Ruins & Sigiriya Rock Fortress
After breakfast, explore Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital (11thβ13th century AD). Marvel at the Sea of Parakrama (huge ancient reservoir), the King's Council Chamber, the Royal Citadel, Kumara Pokuna royal bath, the circular Vatadage relic house, and the awe-inspiring colossal Buddha statues carved from single granite rock at Gal Vihara.
In the afternoon, ascend the 5th-century rock fortress of Sigiriya (Lion Rock) with its mirror wall, celestial frescoes, and world-renowned UNESCO water gardens.
Dambulla Rock Cave Temples, Matale Spice Garden → Kandy
After breakfast proceed to Kandy. En route visit Dambulla Cave Temple, dating to the 1st century BC. Walk through the five magnificent cave shrines featuring the 47-foot reclining Buddha and vibrant antique Buddhist murals covering 20,000 sq ft. Continue through Matale with a guided tour of an aromatic spice garden.
Arrive in Kandy. Visit the golden-canopied Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Dalada Maligawa) and attend a late evening Kandyan cultural dance show.
Kandy → Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
After breakfast, transfer to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Experience the sheer delight of watching the herd of 75+ elephants bathe and splash in the river, meet famous elephants like Sama and Raja, and witness the baby elephants being fed.
Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden → Colombo City
After breakfast, proceed to Colombo. En route stop to stroll through the wonderful Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens with its famous orchid house and royal palm avenues. In the evening, enjoy a comprehensive Colombo city tour, colonial heritage sights, and last-minute shopping.
Colombo → Airport Departure
After breakfast, private chauffeur transfer from Colombo to Bandaranaike International Airport in time for your flight home.
